Artist in Residence in Music
Congratulations to Horomona Horo.
Horomona is a Taonga Puoro (traditional maori instruments of sound) musician. He will be working on developing resources showcasing these instruments and will offer workshops for listeners and players during his three month residency. Horomona will be based at RAVE for pat of his time on the residency.
We will be announcing the next residency for a visual artist (sculpture, painting, photogrpahy, printmaking etc) later in the year.
Please note, that at this stage residencies are offered to Rotorua based artists only.
GENERAL GUIDELINES for applicants
Timeframe
This residency will run over three calendar months around 12 weeks.
What the Residency Offers
Office space at the Rotorua Arts Village Experience. A grant paid weekly at the rate of $500 per week (excluding withholding tax).
EligibilityRequirements
Applicants must be citizens by birth, registration or residency. Applicants should provide either a copy of their birth certificate or passport.
Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to practice in music.
The artist will be required to supply a written project proposal outlining the work they wish to engage in developing or completing with a set of anticipated outcomes.
As living accommodation cannot be supplied, the artist must be based in the Rotorua district.
SelectionConsiderations
You should include a C.V. with relevant qualifications, experience and any reviews. In addition, two referees will be required.
Community Engagement and Publicity
The artist will be required to participate in an arts luncheon, a community presentation and any media interviews as agreed with residency host(s). The artist will work with the residency host(s) on developing other opportunities for community engagement.
The artist will be required to include a printed acknowledgement in any published work arising form the residency (e.g. reports, promotion, documentation and such in regard to the project supported through the residency), to recognise the funders and host parties to the Artist in Residence in Music 2008: Rotorua District Council, The Rotorua Trust, Creative Communities Rotorua and Rotorua Arts Village Experience.
Reporting The successful appliocant will be required to meet regularly for brief and informal reviews with a delegated member of the Arts Residencies' Rotorua committee.
Within one month of completing the residency the artist will be required to provide a report on progress with their project, including any comments on the residency itself.
