David Alexander and Soul2C
David Alexander and Soul2CWith a growing audience, David extended his solo performance to a three piece band in late September 2007. The band consisted of David on the Grand Piano & lead vocals, Dave Robinson on Bass & Sam Milner playing the Drums and singing backing vocals. With a wider range of music being played now, David decided to experiment & add two female backup vocalists, Kui Wano (also playing guitar) with Vicki-Mae Mareroa and later going on to add a third female voice with the inclusion of Alyssa Tibble, in order to some how create a fuller sound. The band has become quite eclectic playing covers by Ray Charles, Dave Brubeck, George Benson, BB King and Nat king Cole to Van Morrison, Maroon 5, Joe Cocker, Otis Redding and John Legend just to name a few. A lot of the songs are re-arranged by David to compliment their sound. The band now named Soul2C, have developed a unique style of delivery infusing an old school feeling with fresh new ideas which is heard in David's original compositions and remastered cover arrangements. In the song you hear the Rhodes sound and a funky baseline giving off a groovy feel with straight to the point lyrics. Then in the song Where do we go from here? you witness the harmonies and feeling both in the music and lyrics in what David likes to call truthful soul and where Soul2C believe their strengths lay. These two songs are just a taste of whats to come if David has anything to do with it! There is now an up rising of interest in the raw soulful sound that is David Alexander and Soul2C . A sound that will appeal to a wide range of music lovers. You can hear the band most Thursdays at the Pheasant Plucker on Arawa Street. The band can be booked for Conferences and private and public events.
